| Saint
Cecilia's Youth Group invites you to join in on the
fun and excitement as we gather in His Name to spread
the good news in our thoughts and actions.
Members
of the youth group are from 12 to 17 years of age. Events
are open to everyone, and there is no segregation between
junior high and high school youth. Nor is there any
separation of between members who attend public or private
schools. Our group believes it is the responsibility
of high school members to be peer ministers and role
models to the youth in 6th, 7th or 8th grade. The group
interacts well and creates a family atmosphere.
The
Youth Group meets several weekends a month for activities
that vary from community outreach to just having fun.
The Youth Group takes several trips throughout the year.
These trips range from a camping retreat in the Florida
Keys to a day of fun at Universal Studios or Busch Gardens.
The group also conducts several fund-raising events
during the year to raise money for charity and the mission
retreat.
Events
and meeting dates will be posted on this page, so check
the website for regular news updates on Youth Group
activities. Notification of all upcoming events or youth
updates will be emailed or mailed to members. The church
bulletin also will have dates, times and locations.
The
Youth Group has established a mission statement and
guidelines for all members. If you would like to participate
in St. Cecilia’s Youth Group, please contact Caroline
Keys at ckeys@saintcecilias.net
or call 936-6416.
Youth
Group Mission Statement
Saint Cecilia's youth group provides a Christ-centered,
fun-filled ministry for youth ages 12 - 17. Inspired
by our Catholic faith, we gather to celebrate God's
love and to spread His Good News in our thoughts and
actions. We strive to reach to our community and to
help those in need.
St.
Cecilia’s Youth Group Guidelines
-
Remember, you are a member of the St. Cecilia’s
Youth Group and you represent the church and the group
when you are in a public setting. Always try to be
on your best behavior.
-
While talking and sharing with friends is a key part
of the youth group, when you hear "Alleluia,"
your response should be "Yeah!" Then give
the speaker your undivided attention. Please be respectful.
-
Watch your language. Please remember that we are a
youth group and are gathered in the name of Christ.
Be respectful. No foul or degrading language. This
includes words like “shut up,” “stupid”
or “idiot.” No one likes to hear these
words, including you.
-
Alcohol and tobacco never is to be used on church
property or during any gathering. Zero Tolerance.
-
Keep your hands to yourself. When we gather as a group,
everyone should keep their hands to themselves. Please
be respectful of others, and remember, fighting will
not be tolerated.
-
Don't bring anything expensive that can be broken
or stolen to the Youth Group meetings and activities.
(A good example is a CD player and CDs.) Do bring
a good attitude and the willingness to participate
and have fun.
-
Before you can go on any trips, a signed, notarized
permission slip must be submitted to the Youth Group
coordinator. One permission slip will be good for
the entire year.
-
If you have any problems, talk to the Youth Group
coordinator. Don't stop coming to youth group events
because of someone or something that is bothering
you. Talking is the key.
-
Friends are always welcome to join in on the festivities.
However, they should have the same values as you and
the other members of the group, and they should respect
the Catholic nature of our events.
-
Always have fun!
-
If you fail to follow any of these guidelines, you
may be asked to leave and your parents will be notified.
